Welcome! I’m Jacqui, a developmental editor, sensitivity reader and writer based in Dorset, UK.

I believe that stories can change how we think and feel about the world around us. I specialise in developmental editing of science fiction, fantasy and romance books. They’re typically better equipped to help us re-imagine our own worlds and imagination is the key to making real-world change after all.

I help writers bring their stories to life by focusing on fixing big-picture problems such as character arcs, plot development or world-building. I offer a personalised and supportive developmental editing service designed to help you improve your writing, overcome challenges, and achieve your writing goals.

My background is in science and I studied physics at university. This has prepared me to be highly effective at editing hard science novels and I include a superb level of fact-checking within any sci-fi developmental edit I do. I’ve trained in developmental editing via Club Ed, having taken a range of courses and am an affiliated member.

A couple of years ago, I was diagnosed with both ADHD and Autism. I’m particularly interested in working with other neurodivergents to help them in their writing journeys. I also offer sensitivity reading for all writers looking for support in writing neurodivergent characters more authentically.

I tailor my approach to meet your needs, and endeavour to make the editing process collaborative, supportive, and empowering. Whether you're a first-time novelist or an experienced writer looking to take your storytelling to the next level, I can help!
